FAQs

Can you meet my dog before you come and collect him for the first time?

Absolutely!  I will arrange a free home visit and a trial walk with your dog to make sure that everyone is happy before any bookings are made.  This allows for you and your dog to get to know me and for you to ask any questions that you might have.

Will my dog meet other dogs?

Yes. It is likely there will be other dogs staying with us but I only allow dogs that get along with others and do not show aggression! I tend to take a small group of dogs for walkies at the same time.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated?

Your dog will need to have up to date vaccinations including kennel cough. (The kennel cough vaccination is not usually included as part of annual ‘jabs’ or ‘boosters’ so you may need to ask your vet to do this.) Your dog should also have regular ‘spot on’ type flea and worm treatments that cover both lungworm and tapeworm.

Is Woof Walks insured and licensed?

Yes, we are fully insured. We are fully licensed by our local authority too. We’re also a full member of NARPS UK (National association of pet sitters and dog walkers).

Does my dog need to be microchipped?

Yes, all dogs must be microchipped, and we will only accept microchipped dogs. Remember that by law, all dogs need to also have a collar with name/address tag.

Does my dog need to be insured?

We don’t mind if your dog is not insured, however, it is peace of mind for you, especially if your dog likes walking off the lead.

Do you walk all types of dogs?

I am happy to walk puppies, senior dogs, nervous dogs, large dogs. Any dog that doesn’t show aggression to other dogs and humans.

What do I need to provide for my dog?

I can provide leads and dog harnesses for transport.  However, I am also happy to use your own leads if your dog prefers.  I will need the dogs’ harness or a head-collar if they prefer to be walked with these, as well a coat for wet / cold days (if your dog requires one).   If your dog has a preferred recall treat or toy, I can take this with me too.

Will you walk my dog off lead?

I am happy to walk your dog on or off lead, however, I would like to get to know your dog first before she is allowed off the lead.  Remember, dogs can act differently when they are away with you and it is my priority to keep your dog safe whilst under my care. I will only let your dog off lead once we have written consent and it is safe to do so.

Do I need to be at home for you to collect my dog?

No, you can take advantage of my key holding service, which means that I can collect and drop off your dog when you are out or you can just arrange for someone to give me access to your dog when we arrive to walk them.

What happens in bad weather?

I can manage bad weather days in a number of different ways.  For those dogs who hate getting wet, I can delay the walk until later in the day if time allows and spend the rain time playing in the house.

For those that are not bothered by the rain – we get wet! I will clean up and dry off your dog as much as possible on return.

What do you do in case of emergency?

For your dogs safety I am first aid trained and if we agree at our initial meeting, depending on the severity of the emergency I may perform vital first aid to your dog, however I am not a vet.  I would call you to discuss the situation and agree a plan of action.  If you cannot be reached and your dog requires urgent medical attention, we will take your dog to the vet designated by you, or the nearest to our current location. Please note that it would be your responsibility to settle or reimburse charges for any treatment or veterinary care when we return your dog.

Do you offer overnight boarding for dogs?

Yes, I would be happy to look after your dog overnight and provide a home from home service so your dog feels happy and contented.

Do you offer any discounts for dogs from the same household?

I offer a 50% discount for your second/third dog so long as they live in the same household.

Can you feed my dog during the day?

Yes, I can feed your dog if required so that their normal feeding routine is not disrupted, especially important for puppies. You need to provide their normal food divided into their usual portions. Your dog will be fed separately from any other dogs that might be in my care.
